See EFT trainer Zoya Simakhodskaya conduct a live session with a mixed race heterosexual couple who is working hard to be aware of their negative cycle and impact of their attachment and cultural histories. The couple asked for help in navigating the differences they experience in their families of origin. In this seminar you will watch Zoya work the EFT tango, establishing alliance and staying focused. We have the opportunity to see Zoya relentlessly validating each partner and their longing and hope for a different, more connected, way of relating to each other. NYCET Supervisor Irina Wen will comment on the session process, interventions and engage participants in a discussion to integrate the learning.

Discussant: Irina wen, LCSW
Irina Wen, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist at the Touchstone Psychology, PLLC, and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Wen specializes in relationships and couples therapy as well as treatment of trauma-related disorders, including posttraumatic stress and complex trauma. Dr. Wen is a dedicated practitioner of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and is a certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor.
Dr. Wen offers trainings in the community on the topics related to working with couples and individuals, trauma assessment and treatment, vicarious trauma and therapist’s self-care. In addition to her private practice Touchstone Psychology, PLLC, where she provides couples and individual therapy, training, and consultation, she is a clinical supervisor at the Military Family Clinic at NYU Langone Health. She helped establish the Military Family Clinic in July 2012 and served as the Director of the Clinic between 2014-2019.
