Session Review of Zoya’s Session Hosted by Kathleen Rogers and Catherine Nobile

Summary of the session: 

Zoya Simakhodskaya facilitates a live clinical demonstration with a married couple who identify as white, cisgender, heterosexual, middle-class, able-bodied, and Catholic. The couple presents
for consultation at a relational choice point, seeking clarity about the future of their relationship. The session centers on one partner’s experience of emotional isolation alongside a profound
fear of vulnerability. Zoya skillfully validates this partner’s protective withdrawal while gently guiding him toward awareness of the underlying attachment longing and the internal conflict that
maintains his distancing. As this process unfolds, his partner is supported in accessing and expressing her own sadness and unmet attachment needs, revealing a reciprocal cycle of
longing and disconnection. NYCEFT Certified Couple Therapists and Supervisor Candidates (app in progress), Catherine Nobile and Kathy Rogers comment on the session process and EFT interventions, engaging participants in a discussion to integrate the learning.

Cat is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified EFCT therapist who specializes in couples, individuals and families with emotional overcontrol specifically related to trauma and obsessive-compulsive processes.
