Summary of the session:
This white, straight cisgender couple in their mid 30s each grew up feeling unimportant in their respective families; the wife felt in particular that her mom would promise to be there for her and then disappoint, including not showing up for her wedding. The husband had to always self soothe as no one really attuned to him. The couple valued the closeness they had when they found each other but this had dissipated when they became parents. They had gone to a couples workshop and then made steady progress in couples treatment until the husband risked confiding personal aspects of himself to his wife which threatened to rupture the entire relationship.
