Working with distressed couples in which one or both members has a history of trauma, requires awareness of the trauma's impact on a couple's ability to connect. This video case presentation demonstrates how one partner's expression of compassion has the capacity to engender a profound shift in the ability of a traumatized partner to access emotion and find reciprocal compassion.  We will examine ways to deepen the resulting transformation of the couple's connection through enactments, moment-to-moment tracking, and metaprocessing of emotional experience in order to foster healing of their connection.
